About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Paint Table Sunday 03 July 2022

I've started work on the next batch of Waffen SS, this lot from the core platoon. I should finish the painting tomorrow and might even get them varnished, although that is more likely to be a job for Tuesday.

3D Printing

Since Wednesday's workbench post I have done quite a bit more printing. On the left you have the sections from Wednesday with the new stuff on the right. There's one piece missing as I managed to break it - it's being reprinted as I type. There are also a couple of small bits in front:

On the left is the cargo bay ramp which will be fitted later on. The bag on the right contains all the doors and iris valves I will need for the interior.

Putting the new and old bits together:

The underside

On Wednesday I mis-stated the final dimensions of the ship - the sections printed so far come to 21" tall and 15" wide. I have one more set of pieces to print to complete the lower fuselage of the ship; I should have those done in time for my Wednesday Workbench post.

  1. Great progress on the Germans Tamsin, and the print is growing in impressiveness with each post, currently playing with hand undercoating a 3D print to see how well I can fill the lines and not the detail, and finding that brushing with the lines helps fill better, than going across.

    1. Thanks! I think that this one is a bit too big to do paint-filling by hand - Halfords best filler primer and lots of sandpaper are the order of the day I think. :)

  2. I was wondering how the new printer was doing? - I look forward to seeing more Waffen SS on table more though!

    1. It's been going nicely and seems to be coping with near 24 hour a day printing. Some more Waffen SS have just been posted. :)

    1. It most certainly is - I've almost finished printing the lower fuselage now and it's going to be 17" wide at the aft! Luckily I have plenty of time to sort out somewhere for it to go on display... :D
