About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Finished: Assorted Scatter Terrain for Judge Dredd

It appears that I am on a bit of a roll at the moment. Following rapidly on from the concrete scatter terrain, I've now finished some other bits of scatter terrain.

Mini-Guns:

...because every self-respecting mega-block's Citi Def troop needs some heavy firepower to defend their residents against various threats like the Sovs, zombies, other blocks. Kept under lock and key, there is no danger of them falling into the hands of the block's criminal gangs...

Prisoner Posts:

With street Judges making multiple arrests every hour (Dredd once arrested several thousand people in one go. OK, it was the entire crew of a Sov warship, but...) and with such a high level of crime, they don't have time to take prisoners into the Sector house for transfer to the Iso Cubes. Instead they simply cuff the perps to prisoner posts for pick-up by the Pat-wagons and H-wagons.

Gas Cylinders:

Garbage Grinders:

Waste needs to be disposed of and it's much easier to process if it's already been ground down into small bits. Most homes will have one of these, or there will be one on their floor of the block, and there will also be public ones in the great outdoors.

Criminals have been known to use them to dispose of bodies and, in one case, to use one (marked as out of order) as a hiding place for an assassination attempt.

Janitorial Droid:

All of the above items were from Wargames Terrain Workshop.

Food Vending Machines:

Who needs a kitchen (or even has space for one in their slum apartment?) when you can simply get a nutritious*, hot (or self-heating) meal from the vending machine on your floor. Take your pick of Sump Industries "Grot Pots" or Munce Inc Ready Meals.

These machines are from Antenociti's Workshop.

* As certified by the Justice Department.

If all goes well, I might have another terrain piece finished tomorrow.

Finished: More Concrete Bits for Judge Dredd (plus Shinies and Podcast #19)

After painting some Jersey Barriers and T-Walls (from Antenociti's Workshop) before, I decided to buy some more - you can't have enough of them in my opinion!

I painted these up yesterday afternoon then today I gloss-coated them, added decals and posters and re-glossed them and finished them off with a matt varnish coat.

T- Walls:

I should note that I added graffiti decals to all of the pieces this time, sometimes on both sides.

Jersey Barriers:

Damaged Jersey Barriers:

K-Rails:

I might get a few more of these...

Shinies!

This morning, the postie delivered another package full of lead:

It was the extra bits I'd ordered from Lancashire Games - some more German warriors, cavalry and leaders; for the Romans a few more cavalry, some mounted generals/officers, another pack of archers and some legionaries (I'd only ordered auxilia before).

I'm gradually working through prepping the leadpile for this project.

Paint Table Saturday

Yesterday I also primed a few figures, but it may be a week or two before I get around to painting them - I want to get as much terrain as possible out of the way first. Speaking of terrain, in odd gaps over the past couple of days I've begun work on another building:

Everything has now been primed, assembled and base-coated, so tomorrow will see my start work on the weathering. I'll probably go somewhat "cleaner" on this one than the others (but still with a decent amount of graffiti, posters and grime).

Finished: Jersey Barriers & T-Walls for Judge Dredd (and Wednesday Workbench 08 July)

Having taken Monday off from painting, yesterday I opted to go for something quick to paint - a load of concrete barriers from Antenocitis Workshop. Of course, me being me, I went through a lot more steps than were really necessary, but I think ti was worth it. I had all the painting and washes done by last night leaving me with varnishing and decals to do today.

I deliberately didn't put decals on all of them, and the ones I did were fairly generic graffiti so that these can be used for games other than Judge Dredd. I also only used the decals that I had printed myself - the extra coat of decal medium and scoring around the decals to minimise the amount of excess film certainly helped, as did using MicroSet to fix them before using Micro Sol.

T-Walls

Tonight or tomorrow I will be starting work on these bits of scatter terrain:

Yesterday I took delivery of a fairly heavy consignment of MDF from Multiverse Gaming:

These are some of their "VersaTiles", a mix of street and plaza boards. I spent yesterday evening and a bit of this morning cleaning them up ready for spray priming. That will have to wait for a few days as the forecast is for rain until next week. That gives me plenty of time to assemble them though.

I also printed out some more graffiti images, this time on white decal paper (which should make the colours a bit more vibrant):

Having learned from my previous go, I will let the ink dry overnight then give them a spray coat of gloss varnish before applying the decal medium (by brush rather than risking my airbrush) and leaving 24 hours between the first and second coats.

Finished: Cars and Taxis for Judge Dredd

As these beauties were so close to being finished yesterday, I decided against doing a "Paint Table Saturday" post. I'm sure you'll agree that they were worth waiting for.

The vehicles are all resin models from Antenocitis Workshop's "Designed for Infinity" range.

VT Fairlane Taxi Cabs

The three-pack was meant to come with decals, but they were missing. Antenocitis are going to be slipping them in with my next order (which should ship in a week or two once they are up and running again in their new location).

I guess you'll be seeing another post of these three once the decals arrive and have been applied!

Eco-Cars Pangit City Cars

Anomala "Beetle" Cars

Bulabok City Cars

These come in "drive" configuration...

...and parked configuration.

Prepping these was a bit of a grind, but they were fun to paint.
