A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Challenge Day 5 - Merry Christmas

Sorry for not posting yesterday - I must have been shattered when I got home as my planned 1 hour nap turned into 3 hours of log sawing. Then I needed to cook and eat dinner and have a bath before I could even think of picking up the paint brushes.

I did finish the remaining six civvies for Salutesville, but it did mean a very late finish with all the varnishing steps, taking pics and submitting the blog post. Hopefully Curt will post them later today.

I had some goodies in the post this morning:

A ghoul regiment from Mantic Games. I'm a little bit embarassed about this. You see, When I ordered these a couple of weeks ago, the only email I got was the confirmation from Paypal; nothing from Mantic Games. So, yesterday I'd used the contact form to check in for an update on delivery.

These are, of course, for my Mexicagrave project - got to have plenty of undead to populate the ruins. I've also ordered a box of Wargames Factory plastic skellies from Wayland Games, but they still haven't come into their warehouse for dispatch. There's not great rush on those though.

I a few hours time I'll be heading out of London to spend Christmas with my family in Sussex. I won't be back until Sunday, so this is my last post for a few days. When I get back I will be working on my entry for the Nostalgia bonus theme round and perhaps on a couple of character figures.

All that leaves me to do is with each and every one of you a very merry Christmas and may you receive lots of nice shinies as presents!

  2. Have a good festive break.

I found the WF skellies to be a real pain to put together and very, very fragile. They have a great Jason and the Argonauts vibe, but soooo fiddly. I ended up selling them on after building just a few and getting a GW skeleton regiment box instead.

  17. @ GJD - thanks for the warning about them being fiddly. I went with them as they are to be meso-American skellies, so the Mantic and GW ones wouldn't really work.

  18. At least they arrived! I think they are very busy at the moment. Quite a few of my orders from other places have been similar. Nothing at all then when you fire an email off to query the next day they land on the doormat.....

  19. @TamsinP - I found these after I ordered the GW ones. I'm thinking of maybe doing an undead army for Dragon Rampant, so I may pick some up to augment the GW ones.
