A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Slow Progress

Yup, progress on the Russian cavalry has been slow, mostly because I've gone down with a stinker of a cold. Luckily it seems to have broken now and I'm over the worst of it, but it has meant I haven't been able to do as much painting as I'd have liked the last two days.

This evening I spotted that the Army Painter wash on the NSL hover vehicles had dried to white in some places. So, out with some brown wash to stain those spots.

I then cracked on with the horses. First job was to do the white markings, then to paint the bases. Once that was done I had to take a break. I've since done the fiddly job of painting the horse tack. That puts me in position to break them into groups for painting the rest of the figure.

Pics of them as they are now:

I'll be working on the hussars first - they will be painted as the Serbskiy and Vengerskiy regiments. Just because.

  5. I am completely without motivation this week. So It is good to see slow and steady progress keep going slow and steady is brilliant at the moment.

  6. Great work on those horses Tamsin! I like the grey ones the most with the speckling (I hope this is the right word in English?).
And take care of your health!

  7. You probably got it off me ;-)

No wonder Lee could not buy any Russian horse flesh from Old Glory, you beat him to it

  8. @ Loki - cheers! I find it easier to do horses in bigger batches so that I can ensure a good variety of colours :)

    @ Michael A - it's shaken off now thanks :)

@ Herbert - just imagine what my productivity would have been if I'd been fit? :)

@ Miles - thanks! I'm much better today. Summer in the UK? Usually not much different than any other season - wet and gloomy ;)

@ Francis - unlike man flu, woman flu doesn't totally stop us doing things and we don't think we're knocking on Death's door ;)

@ Clint - that's a bummer. Hope you get out of the doldrums quickly :)

@ Peter - thanks! The term you are looking for is "dappled" for the grey. :)

    @ Ian - so, you're to blame? ;)
As for the horse flesh, I'm sure Timecast have restocked since I bought these last year, so maybe it was someone else? :)

    1. Actually, none of these were Old Glory, so it can't have been me :)
