About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Saturday Workbench 12 May

Just a quick post today. I decided last night to make a start on the next group for my WW2 Aussies. This is an Independent Company section.

I'm trying a couple of extra greens for the uniforms - Bronze Green, US Olive Drab and Reflective Green. So far they look OK, but they still need to be highlighted so it's a case of wait and see.

At the moment I've just done the basecoats (and the first metal stage on the Bren and rifles) and ggone over the non-flesh areas with diluted AP strong tone wash. The flesh was initially washed with flesh wash, then after painting the hair the flesh and hair both got a slightly diluted wash of flesh/Sepia (2:1 mix).

I won't get any further with them this weekend - I'm heading up to Campaign in Milton Keynes tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have a show report for you in the evening.

  5. This looks terrific. Just remember that in the first part of '42 the dye jobs would all be slightly different as many were brewed at home! Your work looks great and I wish you much success with what along with my Canadians is one of my favorite WWII armies.

  6. @ Herkybird - cheers! MK is somewhere in the train line from Euston to somewhat-civilised Northern places ;)

@ Dave - thanks! I've got lots and lots of terrain bits. Probably enough foliage to cover a 12' x 8' table, maybe more if I have to leave spaces in between for figures to move! ;)

@ Geordie - cheers! Glad to have reminded you of your 'Nam project :)

    @ Lee - thanks! :)

    @ Michael A - cheers! :)

    @ Jerry - thanks! :)
