A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Nearly Finished Painting The Bulgars

Oh dear! Once again I've lapsed and not posted for a week, so I need to do a bit of catching up. The cold had gone by the end of last weekend and I was mightily relieved. Until Wednesday morning that is, when I woke with a fever that lasted several hours and a throat that was so rough that talking was painful.

Whereas the cold before was nasty in that it didn't stop me going to work (curses!), this new one did keep me off. It also had me too achey to do any painting. Luckily, it seems to have gone now and I was able to catch up on painting the Bulgars last night and today. I've just given them a Klear/ink coat and will let it dry before supergluing them onto 40x30 bases. If I manage to get that done in the next hour or so, I'll be able to take them with me to Campaign in Milton Keynes and give them a run-out tomorrow. So, here are some pics of them before the Klear/ink coat:

Hopefully I'll be able to give you a brief round-up of my Campaign games tomorrow night when I get back.

  1. It sucks being sick. Even worse when we get better, only to get knocked back again.

  2. A "Nice" load of Bulgars. Well painted and bright they should look good on the table. Shame you have been poorly. I hope you go from strength to strength and back to UNSTOPPABLE!

If not feel free to make a voodoo doll of someone you dislike and stick it with pins!

  4. You paint so fast and at a standard that is also excellent for the time spent. I see the shinies turn up and assume your lead pile grows like mine but alas within a couple of posts there they are. Well done.

  5. Sorry to hear you've been ill again, but good to see you're painting again. I like the colours on those guys. Hope you feel much better soon and whoop 'em good tomorrow!

  6. Lovely colours. They really cohere as a unit and pop as individuals at the same time. Hope you're feeling better soon!

  11. @ Whisk - it sucked big time! At least I was over it by the weekend :)
    Boogie boogie!

@ Clint - cheers! I decided to go for a more colourful scheme than usual for these lads :)

@ Ray - thanks! Brandy? Surely you mean whisky? :)

@ Chris - I do seem to churn them out at a decent clip and a decent standard. Sadly, any apparent diminution of my leadpile is illusory - it keeps growing :)

@ Anne - thanks m'dear! As you've already seen, I didn't quite manage to "whoop 'em good" ;)

@ Herbert - thanks! I deliberately kept to a set of 6 colours for their clothes, equipment and harness decorations. If I do any more, I'll switch out a couple of these colours and add a couple of different ones.

@ Michael A - thank you sir, thank you! :)

@ Dan - cheers! I think restricting the number of colours used was a very good move :)

    @ Lee - thanks! :)

@ Dean - my cavalry always look lovely :)
