About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

AHPC9 Day 48 - Wednesday Update 06 February

An "update" rather than a "workbench" post today folks, although there will be "workbench" stuff.

I posted two Challenge entries yesterday, which have taken my tally to 1743 points. I'm quite comfortably sitting in 5th place on the leader board but don't expect to go above that.

My first post was some 28mm SciFi terrain:

The second post was the beginnings of a 15mm Kra'Vak force for Gruntz:

Some shinies came in today:

I'm kicking myself a bit though - if I'd ordered a week or so earlier, I could have got an extra free Pulp Figures pack as there was a 7-for-5 deal on. Drat!

OK, workbench time. After finishing the basing on the Kra'Vak yesterday, I started work on my next project - painting up all the miniatures I have (so far) for the Strontium Dog game:

I've painted nine figures since yesterday lunchtime (including one with quite a bit of freehand design), apart from the bases which will get done as a big batch later on. I will probably give the painted figures a quick airbrush coat of Klear to protect them in the meantime.

These have been fun to paint so far. I've been aiming for the comic/graphic novel look as far as possible on them, which is one of the main reasons I went for zenithal priming.

If all goes well, I should have 37 Stronty Dog and 10 Waffen SS* miniatures painted up for submission next Tuesday. I may even have time to paint up something else.

* Waffen SS? What the heck are they for?
Well, there's a certain storyline in Stronty Dog...
