About Me

My photo
London, United Kingdom, United Kingdom
A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

Salute 2025

OK, it's two days late but here is my photo round-up of Salute 2025. You can also take it as proof of life, given that I haven't posted here since last year's Salute. I still haven't broken through my painting block, despite several attempts.

Anyway...

Saturday morning saw me up bright and early. I got to the ExCel Centre just after 0900, had a smoke outside and then dawdled down to the queuing hall. It was only 0915 and the hall was already very full. Rather then go in and join the queue I decided to go to the loo, grab a coffee and head back outside for a while, intending to go back in after 1000. When I went back in just after 1000 the hall was still very full so I joined the queue, finally getting into the show about 1015. Apparently they had sold about 7000 advance e-tickets, which explain why the queue was so long and why it took so long to get people in through the doors.

After a quick stop at one games table to drop off some fliers for the club, I set off to do my shopping, The first stop was Eureka Miniatures to see if they had Shuvalov howitzers for my SYW Russian Observation Corps; they did so I was able to scratch one item off my list for the next stop, Essex Miniatures where I bought some more SYW Russians to complete my Observation Corps. After that it was a quick trip to Warlord Games to get a pack of Judge Dredd figures that I didn't have. And that, dear reader, was the sum total of my show purchases. Here's a photo, with the show freebies (missing the Lt Colonel MacDonnell figure, which I gave to someone from the club who hadn't got one in their bag):

After the shopping, I did a brief tour of some of the trade stands, then went out for another smoke before heading back in to take photos of all the games. I skipped games on trade stands and it turns out that I missed at least one of the games somehow.

Well that only took me a few hours to download & resize the photos, get rid of the fuzziest, write the post and upload the relevant photos (I hate the new interface for photo uploads).

Hopefully you've enjoyed this very long post.
