Test Paint - Sci-Fi Building

With the Japanese finished and out of the way, I decided to spend some time today doing a test paint on the SciFi building I had primed yesterday. The main colours (walls, doors and roof) were airbrushed, then I did the rest by hand.

This piece is the entrance to a shopping centre, so I opted for bright colours. I quite like how they came out and will carry it through to the other sections. For the pre-fab housing I will probably go for a more neutral scheme with bright accents.

  1. So much sci-fi scenery these days has the bloody GW grimdark aesthetic that it's refreshing to see a piece painted in such bold and bright colours. Nicely done!

    1. Cheers! :)

I think it depends a great deal on where you look. Scenery for Infinity is often clean and brightly coloured.

  2. Looks cool - I have the same set and it's made a couple of appearances on my home battlefield. What sort of primer / surface prep did you do? I have found that MDF is just a paint sponge and have a bear of a time trying to get good coverage without a heavy dose of primer to seal the surface.

    1. Thanks! :)

I airbrushed Vallejo Surface primer on. I had thought it might get soaked up, but it seems not to have done that. With other MDF that I have primed using rattle cans, it seems to depend on the primer.
