AHPC9 Day 13 - Wednesday Workbench 02 January

Well, welcome to my first "workbench" post of 2019.

First of all, just to let you know that my third entry in the Challenge was posted yesterday:

Now for the workbench.

As you can probably tell, I have started working on the 8th Army figures for my 1942 Aussies.  On the table at the moment are the metal figures from Perry and Artizan.  I'm painting these in batches of twelve.  I took today fairly easy and just laid down the base colours on the first group:

I've decided to simplify how I paint these ones compared to my previous system by omitting the first wash and reapplication of the base colour.  I might also skip the third highlight.

What you can't see are the four figures I painted yesterday for the second bonus theme round.  They just need to be airbrushed with matte varnish. I'll do that at the same time as some of the 8th Army figures.

  3. Happy New Year!

I really like those Pulp Figures. Any plans for them gaming wise or just for fun?

  4. Good job Tamsin!
We prefer the the filming crew!
The dancer seems to have invented the Walking Dead Dance ... on 1920's Thriller?
For the cultists, We really appreciate the face! ;-)

  6. Hi Tamsin,
Nice work on the 8th Army. The nice thing about them is that they can do double duty in the Pacific as the Aussies were withdrawn to defend the home front. Their initial combats in the jungles of New Guinea saw them fighting with steel helmets, khaki (like the militia) and using a lot more rifles than later.
All the best for a wonderful 2019.

  7. @ Herkybird - Well, for the next just-under-three months I can't really stop painting. Except to eat, bathe, shop and maybe sleep ;)
It seems that everyone likes the film crew.

@ Blax - cheers, Simon! The bonus round figures I painted this week are for the second theme, so you'll have to wait a fortnight to see them :)

@ J Womack - and a very HNY to you too! AS for the pulp figures, there are plans to use them one day... :)

@ L'Empereur - merci! That film crew is very popular, isn't it? :)

@ Michael - thanks! Indeed, lots more to do :)

@ Jerry - cheers! Funnily enough, the plan is to use them primarily as Aussies for 1942 in Malaya and New Guinea, but I have previously noted that they could just as easily be used for the Middle East and Greece :)
