Yes, I finally finished them by adding the flags this evening. I didn't do them last night because I've caught a cold (thank you students returning to uni!) and was feeling grotty. I think it must have been brewing since Monday as I hadn't slept well that night or Tuesday.
I was still feeling grotty today from the poor sleep and the cold. On top of that, I decided to try quitting smoking. I made it all the way through to just after 5pm before I cracked. Hopefully tomorrow I'll make it through to a bit later in the evening before cracking, then a bit later every day after that until I'm completely clear.
Wish me luck!
But back to business and pics of the little blue blobs:
That's my Union army finished for now (I do have some more command figures and dismounted cavalry, but they haven't been prepped and primed so can wait for a while).
Wishing you lots of success with quiting. Sorry to read that you're sick. Ack.
ReplyDeleteFeel better. Feel better.
Nice job on these Tamsin! You did a great job of getting these done whilst being ill.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on getting off the ciggies!
Great job - they look fabulous!
ReplyDeletesmall mini but big job
ReplyDeleteGreat Work!
ReplyDeleteThose look really well.

Fine work Tamsin - what rules for ACW will you use?
ReplyDeleteThey look superb! And good luck with getting off the fags...first couple of weeks are the toughest!
ReplyDeleteImpressive array of ACW troops, Tamsin! Get well and I do hope you quit smoking too :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the smoking thing.
ReplyDeleteYour ACW boys look so good they could be mistaken for 15mm. I need to get some Zoaves for my Reb's, fezs are cool.
Some of the finest little blue blobs that I've seen in a long while.
ReplyDeleteNow they look really impressive - and think of all the extra money you'll have for your hobby if you quit !
ReplyDeleteWow great little dios. Look very good. Hope to see some more....maybe Johnny Rebs??
ReplyDeleteGood girl....tobacco is the devil.....
try chips and beer...that is better for the lungs.
Yay! Union troops finished! Yay quitting smoking! Once you've kicked the habit you'll notice the world doesn't smell like cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Tamsin
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the quitting.
I managed it!
Dear Tamsin,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you picked up a cold. After nearly forty years in public school teaching and at the university, I can attest that students are the germiest entities in the galaxy.
Your finished work is excellent as always and given your ill health is even better than we should expect. Are your units regiments? Brigades? Will you be adding more figures? Artillery and cavalry? And what are you doing for tabletop terrain?
Feel better.
Curmudgeonly yours,
Jerry
Wow the zouaves look excellent, 6mm is visually epic but painting 6mm different matter for my poor old eyes!
ReplyDeleteI felt compelled to come back and make some more comments :-)
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed watching this Union Army develop throughout the year, very inspiring for Dux and my upcoming 6mm ECW foray. Its lucky that Baccus doesn't do the Crimea or that would be a whole new temptation before I've even started the ECW.
So needless to say, I'm looking forward to watch your Confederates develop in the upcoming challenge. But while you are enjoying some temporary respite, I'd like to request a photo gallery of your massed Union army please :-)
@ Whisk - thanks babe. Thankfully I was over the bug quite quickly :)
ReplyDelete@ Anne - cheers, m'dear. Luckily I was only left with simple bits to do when the bug kicked in :)
@ Paul - thanks! :)
@ alex - glad you like them :)
@ Thomas R - cheers! :)
@ Roy - ta! :)
@ cmnash - cheers! No idea on rules yet. I'll probably give Polemos a try to start with as I have them.
@ Gordon - cheers and cheers. Quitting definitely isn't easy, but I'm making progress :)
@ Dean - thanks! :)
@ Dai - cheers! I think I'd probably be a bit neater if they were 15mm (and they'd be easier to paint!) :)
@ Michael A - ahh, but that's only because you haven't seen any other little blue blobs for a while ;)
@ Dannoc - cheers! Sadly any money I do save will be going into my savings pot and not on minis :(
@ Markus - thanks! The Rebs will probably get painted during the Painting Challenge this winter :)
chips and beer may be better for the lungs, but not for the heart or waistline! ;)
@ Robert - the world smells? ;)
@ Jim - cheers and thanks! Taking it one day at a time :)
@ Jerry - indeed, students are a vile pestilential pool of viruses and bacteria.
Glad you like the figures. These could be either regiments or brigades. I've previously painted 16 more infantry bases, a bunch of cavalry (mounted and dismounted), a veritable corps of artillery and a conclave of generals. As for terrain, I still need to paint up the few bits I've got and then to buy some extras.
@ Russ - thanks! If you apply the 3 foot rule and don't try to paint all the tiny details like belts they are actually easier to paint than 15mm or 28mm :)
@ Paul (again) - well, Baccus may not do Crimean War but if you fancy another temptation...
...they do Franco Prussian War :)
You want a gallery of the Union army so far? Hmmm, don't know about that ;)
"@ Paul (again) - well, Baccus may not do Crimean War but if you fancy another temptation...
ReplyDelete...they do Franco Prussian War :)"
I fact I am most painfully aware of. Once I get my ECW fix in with Dux next year I'm sure we'll find a new 6mm outlet for some fun. Knowing him it will be well outside the box too :)
