I finished painting these last night, but had to wait until this evening to give them a coat of matt spray varnish. Doing the camouflage was a bit tricky, mainly because I didn't want to overpower the finished look but still wanted to get the right effect. I think I've got it about right. My only qualm is the mid-tone of the camo - I think it should have been a little darker, but it looks OK.
So, lots of pics for you. I haven't taken shots of all the figures as there are only 5 poses.
Now that they are varnished, I'll be popping them off the painting sticks and packaging them to give to Simon at the club, probably on Thursday night.
Nice job as usual Tamsin! There was no point in russian them!
ReplyDeletenice work on those little figures !
ReplyDeleteThey look nice! IMO camouflage is harder than Napoleonic dress uniforms. Like German camo of WW2 or scifi patterns, it gets more difficult the smaller the scale as the color does not occupy the same real-estate as the actual uniform. It's more illusion of the style with drybrush and washes till it feels right! ;)
ReplyDeleteVery nice Tamsin, The other Simon should be very pleased!
ReplyDeleteThey look great Tamsin. The other Simon shall be pleased :D
ReplyDeleteI do like the camouflage. Nice Job
ReplyDeleteNow that's impressive camouflage, especially given the scale!
ReplyDeleteVery nice work, the camo is great!
ReplyDeleteVery very nice Tamsin!
ReplyDeleteThey look brilliant Tamsin,
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting them on the table.
Tomorrow's war sometime?
@ all - thanks! :)
ReplyDelete@ Herkybird - don't give up the day job (unless your day job is as a comedian)! ;)
@ David - yup, it would definitely have been easier to do the camo at 28mm or bigger. I ended up using different applicators rather than brushes for the mid- and dark-tones
@ Simon the urban bunny - glad you like them and I look forward to seeing them in use. I'm definitely up for Tomorrow's War sometime.
I was about to type "very nice" which [judging by the other comments] would be terribly unoriginal... so instead I'll just say "These are cool" and leave it at that.
ReplyDeleteYou're on a roll. Nice work on the camo.
ReplyDeleteWow... Very nice work!
ReplyDeleteThe camouflage turned out great.
Great job! Now if you could get your friend to play "Zombies in Zhitomir" they would really be put to good use.
