What a fun night at the club that was and incredibly busy to boot. There were seven 2-player games going on (2 of Epic: Armageddon; 5 of Fog:AM/FoG:R), an 8 player game of King of the Battlefield and the 8-player game of ironclads I was taking part in. At a push we might have been able to squeeze another table in, but only by blocking to doors to the beer garden/smoking area. Plus we had a couple of people not actually playing anything.
One of the games of FoG:AM was quite crucial as it was the last match in my group from the Medievals tourney. If Simon's Seljuks had managed to rout Elliot's Medieval French whilst sustaining very limited losses, there was the possibility that he could have leapfrogged from 3rd place into 2nd or even 1st. However, he only scored a 11-9 win so Clive and I were safe.
Ironclads was fun - Italians vs French recreating an Italian Navy staff exercise from the 1880s set between Corsica and Sardinia. The Italians (my side!) scored a narrow victory - 1275 to 1210. I have taken pics and will post them tomorrow.
WIP: Andy's ECW Dragoons
You may recall that Andy won the "painted by Tamsin" prize in my blog's half-birthday draw back in July. My "commission" is to paint up 5 cuirassiers, 5 mounted dragoons and 10 dragoons on foot. Andy needs the dragoons first, so onto the table they go.
Well, no progress today, but a lot of progress yesterday. I should be on course to finish them in time to give them to Andy on Thursday.
Here are a couple of pics for you:
My Other Prize Draw Painting
The figures I'll be painting for Dux (his prize from my 250 followers draw) arrived in the post this morning - ten 28mm WW2 British Paras from Warlord Games. I'll take some pics tomorrow once I've cleaned up the flash etc (and there is quite a lot of it on the figures, mostly vent/sprue remains). The pack contained 5 figures with Lee Enfield rifles, 4 with Sten SMGs and 1 with a Bren LMG. Half are in berets, half with helmets and where the pose is similar there are differences in placement of pouches etc.
The sculpts themselves look very nice with lots of crisp detail. My only complaint is the flash between the body and arms on the LMG and SMG figures which is pretty thick on 3 of them. I'll need to use a pin-vice/drill-bit combo to make the initial breakthrough on those.
Also in the package was this little beauty which the Dux added in as a thank you to me. I must admit I'm really looking forward to painting her up and he's right - she'll make a fine avatar for me to use on this blog. Cheers Dux!

- A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).
